Solar Power and its Qualities

p.jpg

What are the biggest energy resources you can think of? You might include oil, coal—and now solar! Solar power will lead to a cleaner, brighter future.

For one thing, solar is cleaner than most of the bigger, more popular energy resources in America. Oil, coal, and nuclear pollute the environment and cause global warming when used. Solar certainly doesn’t pollute because it only uses the sunlight the Earth has always been exposed to. The sun has never caused pollution or global warming!

Also, solar is renewable while oil, coal, natural gas, and nuclear are nonrenewable. Petroleum, coal, gas, and uranium only come in limited supplies. The opposite applies to the sun. The sun will be providing solar energy for about 4 billion more years.

Finally, solar panels can be installed almost anywhere, such as in solar power plants (like the largest of them, Ivanpah, in a California desert) or on houses and other buildings. If you walk around any neighborhood, you’re quite likely to see solar panels on the roofs of some of the houses. One Texas city, Georgetown, has completely converted their power to solar. The fact that installation is easy is making solar power more and more popular in America.

In conclusion, nonrenewable resources are a little more popular than solar but those nonrenewable energy resources have more disadvantages (such as pollution, global warming, and limited supply) than solar. Solar should keep growing and be more popular than ever before. With more advantages than most other resources, why don’t we give solar more of a chance?
