To our fans, you're all our dearest 'iGlobers'!

How can I get involved and be a Staff Writer?

Meetings are available in the OLS CC List for all full-time iCad students. We meet every Thursday at 12pm EST.   If you're interested in being a Staff Writer, be sure to drop by a meeting! To officially be considered a Staff Writer, we expect attendance to at least one meeting per month, and submission of one article per month. Writers will sign up for article categories in meetings.

What are acceptable article formats?

In all categories, you can be as creative as you like! You can provide your articles in the form of written pieces, videos, audio, and photos. Videos can be YouTube videos, PowToon, or any other video desigining medium. You can also record yourself reciting/speaking things on camera. You can do plain audio recordings, as well, which can be included as podcasts or radio exerpts. You can be a sports reporter, weather reporter, news reporter, stand up comedian, musician - just about anything! Pieces can include photos and gifs, as well; if you have photography, or pictures or scans of artwork, those can all be accepted as article pieces, too.

How do I submit my article?

At our meetings, be sure to ask for the e-mails of the Moderators, Mrs. Hartmann and Mr. Mistretta, and the Editor-in-Chief.

Speaking of the Editor...How can I become Editor-in-Chief?

Usually, editors have been involved with iGlobe for a few years, and have contributed to the paper consistently. They should have provided quality writing, management, leadership, presentation, and teamwork skills. It is important that editors pay close attention to legitimacy and citations of submitted work before they pass edited pieces to the Webmaster(s). Editors are chosen by the iGlobe Advisors based upon the listed criteria.

How can I be a Webmaster?

Webmasters need to be interested and well versed in web design. They are responsible for publishing all submitted work by the indicated date for each edition. They also need to pay attention to legitimacy and citations of the site, and if there are tech issues with the site platform, they need to be able to contact web customer support to resolve the problems.

Do I need citations for my articles? And what format?

YES! Citing your work is extremely important! You can follow MLA formatting for your citations.

Here is Purdue's OWL citation reference. And, if you have too many sources, and citing each from scratch is overwhelming, you are allowed to use online tools, such as CitationMachine

Can I cite Wikipedia?

Wikipedia is a great source for getting overviews and extra sources on specific topics. Do not cite Wikipedia itself - instead, examine their own notes and references for accuracy and credibility; then, cite those sources you find and use there. What is school-appropriate article content?

We ask writers to refrain from depicting overt violence in their articles, particularly with gruesome details. Use appropriate language. Follow Code of Conduct / Honor Code of iCademy.

Generally PG content.

ATTENTION, PARENTS: Per K12 International Academy's Privacy Policy on Links (found below), The iGlobe (http://icademyglobe.wix.com/iglobe) is not responsible for the appropriateness of third party content:

What is "Let's Talk!" on the Home page?

If you have any questions, feedback, or need advice - on a variety of topics, including The iGlobe itself, school, and life - you may click the "Here" below "Let's Talk!"    Have fun!!

What is "iGlobe Incoming" on the Home page?

Anything submitted to "Let's Talk!" or simply any feedback will be answered under "iGlobe Incoming" on the Home page, by The iGlobe Staff.

What is the "About Us" page?

Writers who would like to seriously commit to contributing to The iGlobe are welcome to submit a short (paragraph) bio, sharing basic information about themselves (age, grade, interests, etc.).

They are also welcome to submit a photo of themselves to be included in the Staff Writer gallery.

What is the "Archive" page?

You may utilize this page to find past articles from iGlobe's past website (Feb. 2009 - June 2014) and the new website (Sep. 2014 - present). These articles are categorized by Volume #'s, Issue #'s, and by Staff Writers.

What should I do if I am having trouble viewing The iGlobe?

First, be sure you have the most updated version of your browser--Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Mozilla Firefox certainly work. Safari often cuts off margins of the site, so we do not recommend using it for viewing The iGlobe.

One of our readers asked:

"Hello there awesome people at iGlobe ! I wanted to say that the website is amazing, I love it, but here's the deal .. It'd be just "purrrrfect" if you resize the website's width or set it to automatically re-size itself to the user's screen width, if WIX's editor doesn't allow that, try modifying the HTML directly, usually gets the job done :D Thank you ! Keep up the good articles :)"

iGlobe responded:

Dear Reader,

Thanks for your feedback! Wix is primarily a GUI-oriented application, not command line. Contrary to blogs created by sites such as Tumblr, free versions of Wix sites are not built from scratch using HTML, thus such a block of code is not applicable. When on the iGlobe, if you a) make sure your browser is up to date, and b) simply set your browser zoom on a percentage that is comfortable for yourself, the browser should keep the setting for the site each time you visit it.
